Some points behind 2..d5!? (It is the reason why I don't want to play 2. f4 as white :D).

White must react:

a) 3. exd5 Nf6 is a sort of scandinavian where white has extra move of f4 and black has
extra move g6. I'd say g6 is much more logical move in that opening than f4, so black should be okay.

b) 3. e5 c5 is funny french type position. Of course g6 is ugly move in that position,
but so are quick f4 and e5.
Black has a good control of center and because e6 hasn't been played the problematic c8 french-bishop
can be played at g4 (or f5) before playing e6. Nc6, Ng8 - h6 - f5 or Ng8-e7-f5, Qd8-b6, 0-0, speculating with
d5-d4 should give black plenty of counter-play. Of course white also has his chances and if he black enables
him to play c2-c3, d2-d4, Bf1-d3, 0-0 without getting counter-play, white has a big advantage (white french dream).
I'd say chances are around equal, plenty of play for both colours.

Re: 1. e4 g6 2.f4?! How to counter that move?

Thank you Tony.

I am not able to see all games :-(.

I understand it was played withot an opening book ?

The move 3.d3 is questionable for me. I would prefer 3. Nf3.

Hi Krzych. Above the chess diagram is a drop-down, which should list all the games, and if you select one of the games from the drop-down it should update the diagram and the move list, unless your JavaScript is disabled or something. If that doesn't work for you, I can post the games individually or send you a PGN file. I do have an opening book (I used Arena and the Arena mainbook), but this line was not in it. It's an odd move that has never been played at a serious level of competition, and none of the opening books that I have seem to list 2... g6. It's not easy making your own opening theory. :D

I agree with you about 3. d3, it looks a bit passive to me. Strangely enough, most programs seem to pick that move first. I tried playing positions after 3. Nf3 and black still does fairly well after that move. When I have time this weekend I will try a couple of games at longer time controls.
