Opening Book (for Aquarium)

Post by andytl755 » Mon Jan 21, 2013 4:23 pm

Could somebody please offer advice on opening books. I use Aquarium 4.0.7 primarly (although I do also have Fritz GUI). Are opening books better on one software than another? I believe Aquarium can use .ctg, but I don't know what the 'standard' file format is for Aquarium opening books. Is it .hsh?

I have come accross the 'Rybka 4 opening book for Aquarium' by Jiri Dufek, on the Rybka website. How does this compare with the best? Is this the best? What are the best?

Any help is greatfully appreciated.

You can use the Aquarium Opening Book adapter (http://chessok.com/books/BAdapter.html) for CTG books. For my money, I'd subscribe to the HIARCS Opening Book (http://www.hiarcs.com/chess-opening-book.htm) which is updated every 3 months and is very high quality.
