I suppose another approach might be to start with way too many forums, and then weed them out depending on how many posts they get.

The more forums you have, the less people will see!

A little organization should be fine. I dont see any need for "Chess Engine Cloning" sub-forum. "Human Tournaments & Matches" and "Correspondence Games" Should be merged to one forum. Platforms should not have any sub-forums because too much organisation at times can create problems you are trying to prevent.

Agreed. That makes sense.

Way too many sub forums here, in my opinion.

That merges several subforums into one, I think that's what people have been asking for.

I've done some pruning to the forum landscape. Will do more as necessary.
